Vishwanath Temple is a famous and ancient religious temple located in Uttarkashi. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Uttarkashi was called the township of Vishwanath in ancient times. Vishwanath temple was established by Parashuram Ji and Vishwanath Bhagwan appeared in the temple under Jyotirling. According to the belief, almost as the structure of stones, this temple was constructed by Garhwal King Pradyumna Shah. Later, this temple was restored in 1857 by Maharani Kanti, wife of her son King Sudarshan Shah, and it is also believed that this temple was built by King Gyaneshwar. Lord Shiva was built by Trishul's Guha. In this temple, there is a surprising trident (Trishul). The length of this trident (Trishul) is 8 feet 9 inches and its height is 26 feet. An ancient Shivling is also present in this temple. The statue of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha is installed in the sanctum of the temple complex. Lord Shiva's vehicle "Nandi Bull" is present in the outer chamber of the temple. This stone temple has been built in a Katyuri style. It is believed that the result of the darshan of Kashi Vishwanath temple of Uttarkashi is equal to Kashi Vishwanath of Varanasi. It is believed that in Kaliyuga, Uttarkashi is the only such place of the pilgrim site, where Lord Himself is sitting in the form of Shivling. This temple remains open for devotees throughout the year. This temple has a great religious significance. During the trip to Uttarkashi, tourists visit in this temple. The Vishwanath Temple is one of the main religious centres of attraction in Uttarkashi.
